I have searched for a few days now but have not found anyone with a same car issue. Ok, Here we go. I recently purchased a canadian 02 accord ex 2 door coupe manual trans with a/c and power everything. My last issue to completing a safety inspection is my hand brake indicator light will not come on at all when the vehicle is started. The emergency brake indicator is "on" the dash when key is in acc. Position but goes out when I start the car no matter if the hand brake is set or not. So bulb works, and my brake fluid resevoir is full and my hand brake wire and switch are good because the DRL indicator is operating normally when I released the hand brake, "DRL" light on dash will go out and headlights come on. cannot get my dash light (indicator light) for the hand brake to work. Running out of ideas and time to get re-inspected. Any help with anything is appreciated Cheers!
When the parking (hand) brake is applied, a ground signal is first sent through the DRL control unit before it goes to the instrument gauge panel indicator. One possibility is that the ground signal may be going into DRL control unit; but, not coming out of terminal number 13 to the Green/Red wire that goes onward to the indicator. Except for the Grn/Wht wire (terminal no. 6), the DRL circuit uses different terminal wires from the DRL control unit to operate the high beams in reduced brightness.

Thank you so much!! That's exactly the information I needed! pulled the circuit board from the DRL control unit and discovered a break in the traces of that circuit. Off to try and repair the break ! Or find a good used replacement. Again, thank you!!
