Default cylinder head plug replacement

Hello, I have the leaking head plug (part here) https://www.oreillyauto.com/shop/b/e...05/honda/civic
and I intend to replace it. Quick question, in the videos I've seen, some people say to use some hondabond on the plug, and others don't. I'm leaning towards do not use, as there is already a rubber gasket on the part, and I'm afraid of getting some goop into the head.

Thoughts?

I replaced the one on my buddy's 2002 D17A2 Civic engine and it was fine without any gasket maker, but my brother tried like 5 different caps on his 1990 Integra and it didn't stop the leak until he used Ultra Black RTV silicone on it. You could give it a shot and if it fits fairly snug you should be fine. If not, just buy a tube of silicone if it does leak. It should ideally be cleaned and allowed to cure if you do need to silicone it.

Thank you so much for the response!

I will not use any gasket maker, and I'll check to see if that fixes the leak.

It should fix the leak. This is a common source of leaking in these engines.

No Hondabond needed.
