Default Header guide

Hey guys, i just got my eh2 b20b swapped. (P8R head by the way). I got a 4-1 ebay header off of my buddy, and it works just fine, but the car has been lowered and i have some clearance issues just rolling down my driveway. I would like to stay 4-1, because in my opionion it looks better and i plan on doing some headwork later, and i feel that 4-1 will complement nicely. The question here, is do any of you have any good suggestions for a 4-1 header that has a good ground clearance? Thanks in advance.

The intake pipe was just put on there. Were deciding on what intake to do.

i can get pictures tomorrow. We'll be putting it on the lift to finish hanging the exhaust so we know how long of a cat/test pipe to get.

admit it, you're not putting in a cat.

Anyways, I've seen 2 designs of a 4-1 header and only one will might look like it will allow better grown clearance. MIGHT

Long pipe 4-1 is only beneficial for top rpm range. It pushes the band to the top so you sacrafice mid and low rpm range. It's basically setup for drag race.

Your 4-2-1 has the band a bit closer to the middle so you get a lot more out of the majority of your driving range overall. You loose a little at the top to gain a lot more in the middle. This is more orientated to the street/strip car.

Yeah, you're probably right, we're just trying to figure out how long of a piece of pipe we need to connect the header to the exhaust lol!

ill be doing a lot of drag racing. It won't be a dedicated drag car, no. However it will be on the strip quite often. As well as little street pulls. Up to the speed limit of course 😉

How sure are you that a 4-1 header will work in your favor though?

100% this. If you’ve got it, it fits, doesn’t leak, and you’re planning to change a bunch of stuff down the road anyway then it’s the right header for you right now. You can wait until you get your formula more figured out and get a better header at that point. It’s not like you’re leaving 20-30hp on the table with your stock B20.

ITR 4-1 works decently on these engines and has good ground clearance but might not have the aesthetic you’re after. Toda reps and Skunk2 Alpha are pretty decent for street oriented builds from what I’ve seen. They are 4-2-1 designs though.

Do you happen to have any brands for that itr 4-1 rep? Its not a show car, and honestly i just dont much care for the way a 4-2-1 looks. And thats what im saying. Right now its just a stock b20. And i drive a bunch of backroads and do a lot of straight line racing. So i mean, i dont think im going the wrong direction.

Never seen an ITR rep but I do remember them existing, and I think they were pretty low quality too. I was speaking for the OEM one. HMotorsOnline usually has them available.
