Crank Pulley rubbing against timing cover
Does anyone else have this problem on the H22? Are there washers that go between the crank gear and pulley? Also do you think it's ok to run a light weight crank pulley?
I have had this problem on a f22b1 in my '94 Accord and also on the H22 in my '01 Prelude Base. It wore a hole right through it. There is no spacer or washer between the crank pulley and the timing cover but there is a washer between the lower, crank sprocket drive (for the timing belt) & the cover. I'm not 100% positive on that but thats what I remember.
Theres not alot you can do, if its not due to it being improperly installed or due to loose hardware then its usually because the cover has become warped. Usually its something you can live with, it will wear away a small area of the cover and then won't be rubbing anymore. it typically won't cause any further damage than that, not even a noise.
As far as a light weight crank pulley, your really buying a part for looks and partially piece of mind that there is "some" performance gain. The performance gains would be so minimal that its not really worth it. The REAL problem with a light weight crank pulley is that most lack some form of vibration or inertia force damping ability.
They are typically a solid, one piece, forged billet aluminum part that has no rubber or fluid damping ability. The OEM crank pulley (often called a "damper") is just that, a damper. It absorbs vibration and rotational inertia by means of a formed rubber ring and that is much more important than gaining 0.2hp with an aftermarket lightweight crank pulley (Or at least equally important)
There have been cases of internal engine damage just because there was no damper, it really does more than you would think because the firings of the engine cause the crankshaft to rotate in "steps", so there is uneven rotational inertia and also, at high rpm there are vibration frequencies caused by combustion events that travel through the pistons, rods and crankshaft. If there is no damper, these vibration frequencies can clash with one another causing an unstable condition for various components.

The crankshaft pulley is a harmonic balancer. The damper on the crank pulley may be shot, which causes the pulley to rotate at an angle or even wobble.
If the crankshaft pulley wobbles or rotate at an angle, it can even cut into the lower timing belt cover.
