Another cooling system thread
Hi everyone, long time lurker first time poster. Please be gentle :-)
I've scoured the forum and read every single thing I can about this issue I'm having.
1. Radiator had a crack near the filler neck. Replaced radiator, all new coolant, new tstat, followed procedure for burping the system.
2. Temp gauge and my little bluetooth dongle with phone app show temps staying in the 170-210 range (or the middle, for the gauge) at all times.
3. Heat works when moving, eventually stops working after a while once I get off the highway, for example.
4. Despite coolant full at startup, coolant is now low.
5. Can't pinpoint a leak at all. Thermostat housing gasket was messed up, found evidence of a leak, replaced gasket, all good now.
6. Pressurized the cooling system, held 1 bar of pressure for over a half hour while I did other stuff.
7. No oil in coolant, no coolant in oil or trans fluid, no white smoke or other telltale signs.
8. After a drive on the highway, for example, I'll come to a stop and within about 30 seconds or so, gauge and temp start climbing and the only thing that helps is turning the heat on full blast and revving the motor over 2500 rpm. When doing that, cools down to appropriate level but will climb back up if I'm in stop and go.
9. With rad cap off, only get bubbles when first burping. None after the process is complete. If bubbles, can assume HG yes?
192k miles, 2005 Ex, no mods all stock/factory.
My next test is a compression and leakdown - any others to consider.
Is it possible I've just still got a massive air bubble somewhere?
I do have the coolant flushing attachment, should I attempt that and then go from there? Backflush perhaps?
I'm at a loss guys, I don't know where to go next.
Thanks, and sorry for yet another thread on this.

Get a pressure test of the cylinders to determine a breached head gasket - these engines are notorious for that.
