Can anyone recommend a head gasket for a 93 delsol? I tried fel pro, no good. The head is within tolerance not sure about block.

 

Fel Pro head gaskets for Honda's are junk. Use either an OE or Cometic. If you have a warped block, no head gasket is going to work... at least not for long. Check that the block is flat.

 

I've had decent luck with a Fel-Pro permaseal head gasket on my B7. It was for a Y8 with the blue viton coating so I have to retard the engine as the squish is a touch too small but other than that, still sealed even with my abusive driving. Now that motor is in my wifes car with slightly retarded timing.

I think the prep with a flat head and flat block is key. I did wet sand off the graphite gasket remains with 3000 grit 3M sandpaper. Maybe that increased my RA value enough...

Granted now I tend to order the Ishino head gaskets from Autopartsway as that was the brand Honda used on my motors so should be the OEM gasket outside of Honda.

 

Do you use any kind of sealant on the gasket or just dry. Thanks

 

Dry, they come with a coating.

Is your del sol with a D15B7 or a D16Z6?

I'm assuming you are in the states... If the D15B7 I would use this headgasket:

It's the mls OEM head gasket. It will provide the proper quench zones as it is the proper thickness for the motor. And it upgrades you from the crappy graphite composite gasket they originally used to a mls gasket.

If you have the D16Z6 us this head gasket:

It's the OEM head gasket. Ishino made the Honda head gaskets for these cars. And still makes them today.
