Hello!
I'm pretty bad with car stuffs but I have been searching a knuckle rear (52111-SS0-010) for my Honda prelude 2.0l BB4 1992 and not gonna lie but it's almost mission impossible to find parts for this car anymore and I was wondering if there's any other prelude example BB5 part which fits perfectly to? ( I'm sorry for a bad English, hopefully you guys understand what I trying to say) all the help is really appreciated
I need to change that ball joint there, and I didn't know that you can change these things because when I called to Honda company they told me that you have to buy whole new knuckle, but then I did some research and found out that you can change these and it gonna be a lot cheaper.
Is the ball joint serviceable on the rear of a 1992 Prelude? The Honda Parts diagram shows the knuckle and ball joint as one piece and on aftermarket parts websites there is no rear lower ball joint listed, just the upper & front.
I would think there would be a way to swap out the ball joint if you removed the knuckle, granted you could buy the single ball joint. Remove the clip and use a shop press if necessary but getting your hands on a rear lower ball joint is the difficult part.
Worst comes to worst you could just buy a ball joint that has the same specs and press it in there. As long as the stud has the right taper and the housing has the right diameter and specs for the retention method.
I have checked autozone, rockauto & MOOG Chassis Parts websites and there is no rear lower ball joint listed anywhere.
The Honda Parts Catalog lists no separate rear lower ball joint either.
You could always pull a whole rear knuckle and ball joint assembly from a salvage yard or junkyard vehicle, granted the ball joint was any good.
Its not looking like an easy fix for a bad rear lower ball joint for a '92 Prelude.
The lowers are all the same, front and rear. They're also the same between 4th gen and 5th gen base models.
I wonder why like not a single aftermarket auto parts store lists a rear lower ball joint then?
If they are the same then hey, just order a front lower and slap it in there.
