Has anyone installed a remote starter...
Good day to all. I have a 1991 Honda Accord Lx.
I'm thinking about installing a remote starter.
I live in Arizona and in the summer it can get to 130 degrees. Yes, not a typo 130!
So it would be nice to have a remote starter to start the car with the AC set to on. That way I get into a cooler car and not burn myself on all the hot parts.
Also I travel with a Service Animal and at times when I make a stop it would be nice to lock the car up, take the keys, but use the remote start to keep the car running to keep my service dog cool.
Has anyone installed one? If so how well did it work? Did you have any issues? What brand did you go with. I thank you so very much.

No one?... Anyone?
I'm really want to install one. I'll settle for one that can remotely get the car running.
But would like to have one that can do the following in order of importance:
Remotely start and/or stop the engine.
Lock or unlock car.
Roll windows up or down.
I travel with a Service Animal and sometimes when I run into a store it is easier to leave him in the car.
Not a big deal on a 60% or colder day (he even has his blanket in the car if he wants/needs it). But on those warm days let alone those 100% plus days it can't be done unless I use the valet key to keep the car locked and running with the AC on and the windows up. While I use the main key to get back in the car after I locked it up. And I do use a steering wheel lock hoping the locked door, a dog, and a steering lock keeps someone from stealing the car... But as we all know, some folks are not going to be stopped by those things.
With a remote starter, they have to get into a locked car (very easy to do) get past the steering wheel lock, also not hard. But then as there is no key in the car, they would need to deal with the steering interlock, and transmission interlock. In short its the same amount of trouble as steeling it if it was not running.
Please any thoughts or experiences?
As always, thank you.

I haven't done one in a long time, but you like it, install it. I would guess just finding a kit that works is a challenge?
I thought about adding one to mine (a 99) but always worried about the theft protection that comes with the car being an issue unles a bypass is installed.
Maybe you can do it and write up a report for others?

What security does the Honda Accord have other then the interlock to lock the steering and transition in place (I have a auto transmission). The keys are not coded or chipped.)?
You say you did one. Was that on a Honda? Did it work right?
You sad "on finding a kit that worked", can you please explain why you are saying that, please?
You seem to know about this and have experienced doing one. Can you give more information?
Thank you.
Ok, I've done one, so I'm no expert, but the problem was getting something that would unlock the doors, let the column unlock on the steering, and remote start. I did it on a very old car (1969) so I didn't much to worry about , I had to add the power locks to get it to work.
I think a company that might be good to contact are these guys, they make the kits and can direct you to their instructions to give you an idea. If you have power locks I don't think this is a big item to connect for that year car.
