Weekend track toy. Help me pick a car!
So I'm looking for a car to run track days with. I have about 6k to spend. I think I've narrowed my decision down to a DC Integra GSR or 06-11 fg1 civic si. Now this will be just for fun as I don't plan on going wheel to wheel racing but may end up doing time trials or time attack or something like that. Is there any reason to pick one or the other? Or just go with whatever I like more? I thought about bmw E36, 350z and other cars but hondas are very reliable and should be a lot better on consumables as I don't have a big budget. Thanks for the help in advanced!
The Integra is a classic... easy to get aftermarket parts, literally everyone makes them... but OEM parts are becoming harder to find. quality hubs, knuckles, etc are getting super hard to find.
The FG1 doesnt have all the aftermarket support... camber/caster up front and sphericals will be "harder" to find or more costly. BUT its going to have more honda oem support.
One day... i might sell my EM1 race car and build the +2016 body in white from HPD... but by the time i'm really ready, it might be the +202X body in white. it might be better to make the move sooner rather than later. though you'll likely be on your own for suspension setup unless you know an IMSA racer.

I'd hate to have any reliability issues with an old E36. That's why I'm leaning towards a Honda. I don't think I want a miata because I'm also going to drive this car on the street sometimes and I feel they are lacking in power. Will a E36 325, 328 be quicker around a track than say the DC or Fg1 honda? E46 330ci are also in the price range but I believe they are on the heavier side.

i still have a couple sets of NIB OEM wheel bearings left... i might have found an extra set cleaning out the garage this weekend. when i run out of these... i'll be on karcepts hubs. from the folks i know on them, they are lasting at least as long as the OEMs.
