Any preferences on quick struts?
I am going to need to replace the struts on my 92 lx coupe. I am not super keen on doing the whole coil compression thing if I don't have to. Do you guys have any personal experience with them, and do you have any brand preferences?
I've did an install of the Monroe quickstruts about a year ago. For a ride just a hair softer than stock, I thought they were perfect for that Honda. They installed very easily, and saved me a ton of time to swap out everything with new springs and shocks vs manually doing that, or just installing shocks. Car was also 20 years sold, figured it was a good idea. One of the nice side effect was that I had all new parts, so no squeaking, new bolts, and the car was a hair taller than stock for a bit until it settled. I have had nary a squeak or issue with them in the past year. For this Honda Accord I'm now driving (other one was for one of the daughters) I just ordered the KYB Strut plus and am close to installing it. From previous experience, no troubles installing, again saving time by having everything, but I wanted a slighty firmer ride in this car vs the other, AND it is on sale so the price comes out the same as the Monroe ones. I think it's also just a hair lower than stock. So, when I talk about a hair, I mean it's like 1/2 inch shorter at most with the KYBs, noticiably firmer but not jarring or "firm" like a sports car, I just wanted this accord to feel a little tighter.
So I've been happy with both, and I love not having to use a spring compressor.

Really can't beat KYB Strut-Plus Kit from RockAuto.
KYBs can ride a little bit more firmer than stock but nothing annoying.
Unless you must have OEM Sachs, or switch to Koni's or Bilsteins, then avoid the disassembly/assembly process and just do the Strut-Plus kit.
