Help Removing Headliner to Replace Fin Antenna 2015 Accord
Hi All!
I’m trying to pull the headliner down in the back of a 2015 Honda Accord Coupe just enough to reach in and replace the fin antenna. I was able to unfasten the fold-down hooks over the rear windows (clothing hooks?), remove both “side airbag” plastic and internal metal clips, and take out the rear light. From watching YouTube videos, I expected the headliner to have a little “give” at that point, so I could hopefully reach underneath and to the antenna wiring. Instead, I encountered a lot of resistance when trying to pull the headliner down.
Are there additional clips/fasteners or adhesive up there that I need to be aware of?
And does anyone know if this plastic clip (pic attached) needs to be removed before the headliner comes down? (located in the center of the headliner in the back seat)
I’d really like to have a functioning radio again but I can’t afford the $700 labor costs the dealership is asking for.
2. The object in your photo is the rear ANC/Active Sound Control Microphone. It is attached to the headliner and plugged into the harness wire. If the whole headliner was being removed, the connector would usually be disconnected. But, the guy in the youtube video did not seem to have to disconnect his.
3. The headliner for a coupe has six (6) plastic clips and plastic hooks or something at the rear. You probably have to lift the hooks off first. You'll need to be careful, as the harness wires are attached to the headliner,
4. It is possible since your car is a coupe, that the B-Pillar Upper Trim piece may need to be removed to allow you to more easily pull down just the rear part of the headliner. Removing just the upper trim piece does not require removing the front seat belt lower anchor bolt.
5. Removal of the shark fin antenna (XM antennae) is also shown in the youtube video.
