Default 1996-98 steering rack fit in a 99-00?

Are the power steering racks of 1996-1998 civics compatible to fit in a 1999-2000?

You can look on OEM parts sites like hondapartsnow.com and compare part numbers.

If they are the same, no question. If they are different, then there maybe a question.

They are different but what’s weird is that the non-OEM steering rack from American SHOWA that’s listed on the same parts catalog fits all 96-2000 years. So I’m not sure if it’s because of Honda changing the part numbers and not the actual rack or if there’s an actual difference. My 2000 civic rack started leaking and I’m getting a good deal on one from a 97 so I’m not sure if there’s a compatibility issue.

yes they are all the same. When I had to get a new steering rack, I went with a reman Honda unit. Honda had superseded all the part numbers into one part number. That unit was from the 99-00 and I have it in my 96. So again, it will fit. The differences were in some of the seals internally that the 99-00 used compared to the 96-98 units. I know the 96 used a roller bearing on one part (can't remember where) then the 99-00 used a rubber seal instead. Doesn't matter since if it's bad, anything new is better! lol. Showa is the parts supplier to Honda they are the one that reman'd my unit that I have. So yes they know what they're talking about.
