Hello Fellow Honda Tech,
I am writing to you and hope someone can direct me to a viable solution, and I thank in advance for all the support you guys extend.
I have my Honda for 16 years and haven't had any issue with it till this year. In January 2020, transmission started slipping, so I thought may be ATF change was due, last was done at 120K, it was just 60K mile after, so I drained and put 3.2 or 3.4 QT of Honda DH-1 ATF. It worked for a short while. I don't use this car on a daily basis. It is my spare car.
Fast forward to June, it started acting up again, slipping when it was hot. So this time I flushed 3X and on the last fill replaced it with Valvoline MAX ATF synthetic fluid. I know Honda pushes for DH-1 , but Valovline Synthethic ATF meets and exceeds Honda's specification according to the tests done by Valvoline which is available on their site. In fact their fluid is recommended for many Asian cars as well as Americans and Europeans. I removed, cleaned and check Shift Solenoid which is on top of Transmission with dual solenoids, I replaced the ATF filter which Honda never mentions. It was disintegrated within its container. Transmission worked flawless for a while about 300 miles, in the city. Till two weeks ago when I took it out of town 50 miles away on free way. As I got close to my destination, it started slipping again. Let it cool off for an hour, I was ale to get back on Freeway, for a short distance of 7 miles, then had to pull over and call tow truck. Until this event there was no check engine light, no DTC code on my OBDII.
Back at home, I connected the OBDII and there was P0741 transmission failure code, Torque Convertor Clutch Solenoid Stuk Off.
I removed all solenoids, (two under the starter, two on top of transmission, One Shift Solenoid with dual plunger and one below the shift solenoid with one plunger), Checked their resistance and verified they function by connecting them to a 12 VDC supply. Put everything back together. I didn't remove the Oil pressure switch or another switch which I think its called ATF temperature switch. These are shown as item #13, and #14 on Honda's drawing. One of them is not visible at all? not sure where it is.! I changed the oil and filter of engine, I flushed and changed coolant refilled with Honda Type 2, thinking overheat of transmission could be due to coolant. It is ironic that Honda accord doesn't have any transmission cooler like normal cars inside the radiator!! they have heater go figure !!. I drove it around the block for 5 to 7 miles and it slipped again. Let it cool off for 5 minutes, I was able to put it back on my drive way. Checked with OBDII, and there was no failure code
At this point I am looking for help as I have exhausted my resources. Overhauling transmission by Honda or outside shop is out of question in our area, they want $3400 plus, Dealer could be much more. Used is $1400 and you don't know what you are getting. I would attempt to overhaul it myself if anyone can direct me to good transmission shop manual, and parts list, Youtube video, etc.
Again I am new at this site, I hope I explained my issue well.
Best regards
Nick

Nick I've looked at a couple of these forums and it appears that sometimes you don't even get a reply from anybody. But I'm also a Accord owner with transmission issues. I had the 0741 and took the solenoid off cleaned it put it back and the code cleared but now I have the 0752 and 0747. My issue is I tried to take out the shift solenoid a which is above shift solenoid B and below some housing. I could get B out but a is wedged in there and I don't know how to get it out do you have any advice?
