For a 2003 Accord, there are different versions of the audio units based on trim level or OEM accessories; however, none of them are configured with an external OEM amplifier. If anything, it probably is an internal problem in the audio unit.

Or a loose or intermediate connection. I would make sure all the connections are good. Not just look good but are good.

Pull the radio, disconnect the plug. Clean the contact on the plug and the radio. Make sure all the wires have a good connection to the plug.

When you loose sound, does the sound just stop, and then comes back, or is the radio actually turning off?

If it is turning itself off does it come back on by itself or only comes on when you turn it on again.

The more detailed the information, the better the answers will be.

If it turns off and on by itself, you have a bad connection either going to the radio or in the radio.

If it is turning on and off by itself and you checked the wires and connectors and even changed out the fuse (fuses can act up), look for a repair shop that can fix the radio for you.
