Default Transmission.

I was wondering if a h23a motor will fit with a h22 transmission?

yes unless its ATTS prelude

you have to match oilpan to that transmission, newer h22 transmissions are attached to its oilpan....or theres some mounting point

The ATTS unit has NOTHING to do with the oilpan....

But the idea that any H or F series transmission aside from the SH specific on will work, that is correct.

The SH cars with ATTS have a different output that mates up to the ATTS unit instead of a halfshaft, so they are pretty obvious as soon as you look at them.
