EP3 won't start, broken plastic on carpet
I have a '04 Civic Si and have been noticing bits of broken plastic on the driver side carpet by my feet. Two days ago, it refused to start.
I knew what was up. I've had this car for 6 months and it is my first Honda. A few weeks after buying it I noticed the same plastic bits and then my brake lights would not go out. I fixed it with the Dorman brake pedal stop pad set (74015) . The hole the stop pad has to push into is VERY hard to reach because the stamped bracket that the pedal pivots on encloses the area. More support = more strength I guess. I kept dropping it. It didn't help that I'm 5'8" and over 200lb w/ multiple back surgeries and I'm 62.
What I ended up doing was tying sewing thread to the pedal stop and threading a needle on the other end. I could push the long needle thru the hole and pull the pedal stop against the hole. I was able to get a finger in enough to push it home.
I've also replaced the door lock actuator, not a fun job. Now my LH window regulator has enough slop that the glass binds when rolling up and I can't find a regulator for less that $200. The car has low mileage and looks great but handles terrible on bumpy turns. I know this is the EP3 sub-forum but I don't think I'll keep this car. I want more comfort for my daily. If I want to go fast, I have something for that.
