Currently my 1990 Civic STD EF is throwing a code 17 for “Vehicle Speed Sensor”. The car will not rev past 4000rpm, but then when the engine light code comes on I’m able to rev throughout the RPM range.
The reason this code is coming on is because I can no longer have the speed cable plugged into the back of the dash cluster. Reason being is that the cluster butts right up against my underdash roll cage for improved touring class in SCCA.
Do we have any suggestions to bypass the VSS code or any other solutions?
that kinda sound easier than moving the roll cage bar....
youre probably looking for some electronic foolery so you dont have to do either... but likely not without changing ECU, which is not within ITA rules.
then again, that rollcage bar is optional, you COULD notch it and reinforce it below. obvious stress riser, but mistakes happen.. and this is a mistake on the builders fault.
