I need some advice/insight on a replacement engine for 03 v6 Accord
Well I'm new to Honda-Tech and I have a lot of knowledge when it comes to repairing cars in general but I also know that there is still a lot of knowledge that is out there to learn. I've built a good number of d and b series civics and I know a lot of the possibilities and combinations dealing with them. However I never really got into the possibilities of the j series life and I'm hoping that I may be able to learn something new from you guys. Anway here's what I'm in need of information and advice on.
The car I'm currently working with is a 2003 Honda Accord EX coupe that has the 3.0 with a 6 speed manual transmission. It belongs to a good friend of mine who I'm helping to get it back on the road due to it having internal engine damage that I'm not exactly sure of how severe it is but it's enough that we both feel it's better to swap it out for a different one. Since it's been decided that we would put a used engine in it I stead of trying to repair the current one and the fact that it's an older car that most likely Amy usdm junkyard motor will have rather high mileage I suggested that we should go with an imported JDM one that is said to have under 65000 miles. I'm just not very knowledgeable about which motor options there are to go with. I'd like to know what jdm J series engines could I use that will work with the transmission I currently have and also without having to buy new mounts. The last important thing is that I would like to be able to use the same engine harness or have one that will plug directly up to the car however I'm able and willing to make some modifications to adapt sensors or other minor plugs if needed in order to use the engine that will provide the best platform/performance upgrade. Thanks in advance for any and all information/advice
