Bought a swap hoping for the best, was a very bad decision so **** it I’m here now, I took the head off to inspect because it was mixing oil with coolant, I will be just building this LSV swap, camshafts look fucked, and also does these cam shaft holder things, would a machine shop be able to restore these? Also I need a reputable machine shop to take my block and head to get parts installed, any recommendations? Any help would be great
If those gouges/grooves are deep and not uniform... the head is trashed. Line honing the cam journals in the head is not recommended although it can be done... it just introduces other problems when done that are not conducive to long-term engine survival.
Measure the cam clearances and compare to the specs in the service manual, whether it be plastigage or bore gauge, and go from there. What does the camshaft look like?
