Type SH clutch/flywheel replacement (with atts unit)
I am in the process of replacing my clutch and flywheel. Since I have a Type SH prelude it has the atts unit which the service manual is saying needs to be removed to drop the transmission which is making this clutch job a bit more difficult. I believe this is so I can take off the intermediate shaft between the atts unit and tranny.. is this true? How hard is it to pull the intermediate shaft? I still have to pull the CV axle from the atts unit, I spent an hour trying to get it out yesterday and tried everything, so I am going to rent a cv axle puller tool which is basically a slide hammer. I am just worried that the intermediate shaft will also be this difficult to pull, does anyone have any pointers on this? Will I need a special tool to pull it?
If you cant get the axle out, stop right now, and get it to a shop.
The ATTS unit is a huge pain in the ***, and must be removed to remove the transmission and replace the clutch, and then everything needs to be re-synced when re-installed. There is no intermediate shaft, the ATTS unit basically takes it's place.

I got the cv axle as well as the atts and extension shaft/tube out. It really wasn't too bad once I got the cv axle puller tool. The atts and extension shaft/tube really wasn't too bad with a second person helping. Getting ready to drop the tranny now.
So you pulled both axles right? Driver's and Passenger's CV's? I'm not too familiar with the Type-SH Preludes and their ATTS system (I have an '01 Base) but I would think the process of doing a clutch/flywheel and dropping the trans would involve pulling the axle out of the atts unit on one side and out of the atts extension tube on the other, then removing the extension tube. Then its just pulling the atts unit which looks like it involves some wiring connectors, fluid lines, brackets and then the hardware fastening it in there. Most people use a prybar to release the axle shaft's retaining clips by prying in between the inboard joint's housing & the transmission but i'm not sure about atts models. I've never heard of a cv joint puller, didn't know they existed lol. Let us know
