Default CRX: Replaced Transmission in D16Z6 Swap

I have a '91 CRX that came with a D16Z6 swap. The transmission was bad and couldn't go into multiple gears, but luckily, it came with a replacement. However, this transmission was from a different year, an '88 (20 spline teeth).

After installing the transmission, I cannot go into any gear at all. I replaced the clutch with an Exedy HCD011UA, and I replaced the flywheel with a Valeo V2622.

At this point, is my transmission even compatible with my engine? This is my first project car, so, please be gentle.

if i remember right the spline count on the trans
the only componet that this would matter to is the clutch your using
so the clutch disk fits in the splines correctly

and yes the trans your using will work just fine with the d16z6 motor

now if your gears are not going in it could be for three reasons
the first is a clutch cable thats too loose

and second a shift leakage bar thats at the wrong angle

and third a broken trans

now heres my question for you
when the car is off do the gears go in no problem?
if your answer is yes then your problem is with the clutch cable

if your answer is no then it could be 2 or 3

hope this helped
good luck

When you say you can't go into any gear at all, is that regardless of whether or not the car is running, or can you only not get into gear with the car running?

Has your car been converted to use a hydraulic clutch pedal, or are you still using a cable actuated clutch pedal?

If your problem is that you can not get it into gear with the car running, but don't have a problem getting it into gear with the car off, your problem is likely that the clutch is not fully releasing. If you are still using a cable actuated clutch pedal, try tightening up the cable at the transmission end of the cable. If that still doesn't work, you may have a bent/broken pedal assembly. This is common for the cable actuated clutch pedals. You will need to either replace the pedal assembly or you can pull the old one out and try to bend it back into shape, weld up cracks, and reinforce it. Pulling the pedal assembly takes a little time and you will need to drop the steering column.
