2000 Honda Accord start issue
Hello. So not sure if I'm in correct area for this question, but maybe someone can help. I have looked everywhere online and every forum and asked every friend nobody can figure this out. So here we go. I have a 2000 Honda Accord 4 cylinder with about 120,000 miles on it. I've had it for a year and a half. Bought it from my 100 year old grandmother for $1,000. Just giving all the info I have. Car over heated a year ago and I had to replace heater hose or something can't remember. Anyway car started having start issues after about 30 min of driving. Once I turned it off and ran in store for about 10-15 min car would have trouble starting. When it did start it would putter till I put it in drive and give it has. Smooth right out. Then I had to replace radiator because coolant flew out the front of car one night. So I put new radiator and thermostat. Oh I also replaced manifold gasket a while back. Anyway now the car will start and run fine. But if I drive for like 30 min on hwy andiand turn itwit off it will just turn over and over but no start untill the next day or several hours later. If I drive it for 10-15 min and turn it off it will start right up and drive fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you
One last thing... I noticed that when I give it gas when in park the rpms drop really low and almost dies then back to normal idle

you're painting a picture of a car that has had maintenance deferred for a while. I would suggest a full inspection by an import or Honda specialist to give you the most complete picture of what you're dealing with overall. if the issue at hand is resolved (guessing head gasket failure) at some not-zero cost but the timing belt had not been changed recently (it should have been based on mileage) and it breaks... you get the idea. the goal here is to avoid a money pit. pay the going rate to a reputable shop to give you the "full list" of what the car would need to be safe, reliable transportation. if it's $100 but it saves you from dumping $2500 into a $1000 car... worth it.
things you can do in the mean time that may be beneficial:
-check all fluids and tune-up items, replace as needed. I would bet spark plugs and distributor cap and rotor need to be replaced.
-the base idle should be checked and set too for good measure (make sure the throttle body has been cleaned first).
-if the check engine light is on, get a list of the codes written down. process is the same for your accord-> https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...lists-1901557/

I have changed plugs, plug wires , changed all fluids and she just had someone do timing belt and water pump. She drove the car till she turned 100. The car ran great for a year and now this issue has come up. Car will start and run perfectly. Just if you drive it for like 30 min. It will sometimes not start till it sits for a while. Thanks for the advice I will take it to shop just curious if anyone had any suggestions on what may cause that. Cool, ignition, relay, fuel pump. I guess it could b quite a few things.
Maybe this is a possible vapor lock or weak fuel pump. Borrow a fuel pressue gauge from an auto parts store (they rent them) and put it on while driving it around to see what the current pressure is. Then drive it the 30 minutes , turn off and restart and see if that's the issue. If so, replace fuel pump but only after checking fuel filter to make sure it's not clogged
Check the main relay for the fuel pump. The solder joints will crack with age and cause crank no start issues. Ould also be the ecu electrolytic capacitors fail after 20 years or so
