2000 d16y7 auto trans swap into 99 si with a d16y8?
I have a 99 si with the d16y8 and an auto tranny and it has been giving me grief and I found a transmission but it’s from a 2000 sedan with the d16y7 and I’m wandering if I can use that transmission
If you're in a state that requires inspection it won't work. You'll throw a CEL light for improper gear or some ****.
Well my car has that as it’s a factory d16y8 auto car, I just want to run the trans from the d16y7 as mine is giving me shifting problems and I keep getting the tcc lock up solenoid circuit malfunction code and I tested the solenoid and it checks off all the boxes so I’m guessing my tranny is on its way out

OP do a manual conversion and send it! jk are you having a hard time sourcing a good condition Y7 trans?
Did you notice the difference(s) between the transmission swap at your link and the one in this thread?
94EG8 claimed that pairing a Y8 auto transmission with a Y7 engine and ECU would throw P0715. He also stated that the converse swap (pairing a Y7 auto transmission with a Y8 engine and ECU) would not throw a CEL code.
If correct, this is actually good news for the OP.
