Throwout bearing on 98 Accord
Bought a 98 accord with about 130k miles a few months ago from a pretty shady guy, he said the clutch was just replaced and it felt like it was not even broken in yet. I put about 500 miles on it then the clutch pedal started vibrating when changing gears near the floor. also developed a noise that sounds like crickets under the hood that goes away when the pedal is depressed. I'm almost positive its the throwout bearing but i'm not sure why that wouldn't have been replaced with the clutch. Even when in neutral and you press the pedal in you can feel like its getting caught on something and not operating smoothly.
This is my DD and I need to be able to get it done in a weekend. Anyone have any input or advice? Shop quoted me $100 for the part and 5 hours shop time at $120 an hour... so thats not an option.. I've got basic tools, maybe an impact gun, a jack and stands, and a friend to help..
I just dont want to get this all taken apart then it turns out its something else and I got to wait on a part or something.. anyone have any experience with this please give me some insight, thanks.

I would not surprised if it was not perfectly put together, it's a big job and people make mistakes. You might want to take it apart just to make sure it's all done right.
Crickets or a chirping noise sound like something is not quite aligned. Vibrating could be an imbalanced setup. Whether that's the flywheel or clutch....could be either.
You can definitely do this job. If you are really worried about downtime, I would buy a clutch kit with flywheel and have it ready to go and swap in. Because you might take it apart and not see anything specific, so at that point you would want to take the flywheel off and either have it refinished or replaced. Then look at the spines , throwout bearing, etc and see how it looks. At that point, I would chuck everything and put in the replacement. Then at least you know the part and its done right.
