Del sol stuttering.
1995 del sol d16y7 d16y8 intake. Had a d16z6 that was. Burning alot of oil so I swapped it.
One morning I got in my car and started it and when I went to hit the gas it started stuttering only for a few seconds. It almost sounded like a Subaru with an unequal length header or something. But after a few seconds it goes away. I swapped my motor recently and first started it and test drove it and everything was good no burning oil like before obviously.
Well this morning it did the stuttering again. Only happens on first start up in the morning and for a few seconds. Intake and injectors are the same as the old motor when I had the issue. Spark plugs and wires are from the new motor any ideas?
Could it be bad gas maybe?
Any help is appreciated. I did a little searching and some people said injectors or bad gas or faulty wiring of some sort. Before I just start throwing money at it any test or things I should try?

Not arguing just discussing. But what is the chances it's a cap and rotor or timing if they are both different to the car now and it has the same issue? Like you really think my old engine and new one both has timing off and bad cap and rotor? I dont think that's very likely. But that's why I'm here asking so.

1) Remove the distributor cap and carefully inspect it, the rotor, and the general condition of the distributor internals.
2) Hook up a timing gun to check/adjust the ignition timing per instructions in the service manual, which you can download by doing a Google search.
3) How old are the spark plugs and plug wires?
4) Are the spark plugs properly gapped?
5) Have you already replaced the fuel filter?
These are basic car maintenance items that should never be overlooked.
Thanks for the explanation. I'll check all that later this week and see if it helps. Not sure age on spark plugs and wires and fuel filter but I'm going to go ahead and change them anyway. I have a timing gun so I'll check that aswell.
