1989 crx si
so i picked this car up last summer off of my local craigslist. the car is a 1989 crx si in the flint black, had just over 90k miles on it bone stock, pretty much all original. story is i randomly found the ad and tried calling the guy but he didn’t answer my phone call, said he was getting calls like crazy so he was texting me instead. he said he had two people who were ‘interested’ but not till the end of the day, mind you this is about 9am i’m talking to him. i tell him i have the cash in hand, which was $5k, and that i’ll drive up there as soon as he says yes. he says let me think for a minute....about 20 minutes later he texts me back saying go ahead and head up. the original craigslist ad was just few pics and a minor description, but the car looked so good i was beyond excited to see this thing in person. anyways we get to the guys house and he opens his garage door and backs it out. i’m pretty much drooling at this point, i’ve personally never seen a crx in this nice of condition, let alone an all original si. talk to the guy for a bit, his dad was the original buyer back in september of 89 iirc, id have to double check the receipt pile, and then he passed away in 94 and his daughter ended up driving it for a while. they then sold it to a close friend who owned it for around 8 months or so and they ended up buying it back from them. the son, the gentleman i bought it from, ended up getting it back at that point and has had it until the day i purchased it from him. the car has been well maintained, i have pretty much every receipt since new. it’s been garage kept it’s entire life aside from a 6 month span in michigan. has dealer installed optional a/c no power steering and every single thing works well, even the sunroof. now on to some pictures.

timing belt/water pump service was due, and i had honda do that. they also went ahead and did an oil pan gasket, a brake flush, and oil change. i’ve sorta cleaned the engine bay, after pic is the above one, i don’t have a before pic but it wasn’t too bad. tires are a little dated as well, so i plan on getting a new set at some point. funny thing when we were driving home, i was telling my gf it would be funny if we popped the hatch and the oem hood bra was in there. sure as ****, we get home and i look where the spare tire is and the bra and fender covers were there! i about **** myself lmao. anyways, the car is obviously just a weekend car for me now, it literally just sits in a garage collecting dust. i’ve since acquired an oem arm rest out of another 89 crx si in amazing condition that i’ve installed, also can see in the pictures. i need to get a PDR and paint correction for it all to be looking as good as possible. everything will come in good time, i love this car and don’t plan on selling it anytime soon, it’s an absolute blast to drive. never driven or even thought of owning a crx until this one.

few more pictures...

and the best part, unbroken original climate control. pulled it out a few weeks back and it’s brittle and has a couple of hairline cracks, but it’s not broken all the way.

all these pics were taken on my old iphone 6s, so the quality is complete ****. first post pictures were on my iphone 11 pro if anyone was curious.

It seems to have all moved to Facebook, which blows. It's an awful platform for the car hobby, it isn't searchable and any useful information gets lost.
Thanks for sharing your car here though, it looks great.

thanks guys. yeah it’s staying completely stock. next things i’m going to do to it is paint correction to get all the minor scratches and **** out of it and replace tires. i’m just trying to make it look as if it came off the show room floor. oh i’d also like to get the lip to fit better, it seems to sag a bit in spots. don’t get me wrong, it’s really clean as is, but i’d like it to be even better. it feels like a brand new car it’s so wild.
I came to find this thread because of a comment you made in GDD.
I confess to a small amount of jealousy.
Honda was doing absolutely everything right in those days.
Good to see occasional examples in good condition and still in use.
The first Honda I ever drove was a 1989 Civic, and I’ve been there since.

went to a all honda meet in the springs a few months back, i suck at taking pictures, but a few cars caught my eye.

40k original miles.

such a shame, brand new ctr.

on the way home stopped at a gas station to fuel up and saw this samurai. insanely clean, guy comes out and said he just took it out of storage, bought it and put it in a storage unit and this is the first time driving it...
