I've heard that supertech valves are actually not the best they're infamous for breaking and dropping. I use they're springs and retainers but for valves I would go skunk2 or ferrea. As for the style, the flat top would increase compression and the dish would lower the compression. valve style kinda has minimal effects on compression but do effect it none the less. that's my opinion though. my build was for boost but was suggested by the builder to use supertech springs and retainers, ferrea flat top valves and then my pistons were dish style low compression

I know this thread is like 2 months old but I'm bored. I have used a flat faced valve(can't remember the name of the company) with a supertech spring and retainer package. I ran that engine(B16A) pretty hard 8850RPM with CTR cams and did not have any valve train issues. On the other hand I built a car for a friend and we used the factory valves with a skunk2 spring and retainer package and skunk2 tuner 1 cams, it made 410WHP without issues.

I’ve used super tech valves and valve springs w keepers, I’ve dropped a valve before and a year ago a few of my super tech inner springs have broken on me and thought it was my valve adjustments, and engine was only reved to 8500rpm with ctr cams. Recently so I had to do a valve seal replacement and took the springs apart while head was in the car and found another super tech spring had broken...!!! This was a new setup and reved to 8200rpm on the same ctr cams. So go figure 🤷‍♂️

That is interesting, after about 3000 miles on my setup I torn it apart to build a new engine. I checked all the springs (spring height, compression force, and physical condition) and retainers. I did find wear on the titanium retainers but that was expected. The springs were all good though. But my new engine has all Ferrera pro stuff in it so I don't know. What springs where you using?

Gsr titanium dual valve springs not the beehives springs.

I have heard of Supertech being hit or miss i.e. dropping valves and breaking springs. All I will use is Ferrea stuff now but that is just me. I am going to reuse the Supertech stuff I have on a throw together engine we'll see how it fairs.
