Default Best ECU mounting approach?

Have a 1992 Civic EG Hatch.

B16A3 motor swap, with a P30 ECU as shown below. It appears that the ECU doesn't fit easily, any tricks to getting the wire harness on and ECU mounted without kinking anything?

The wiring goes on the outside... so the black wire protector that covers all of the wiring comes down across the front lid of the ECU and the plugs connect just like in your last photo. Tucking them in behind will pinch the wiring bundle in a couple of places and cause damage in the future.

^^^ Agreed.

OP, get some carpet in there and you shouldn't have to worry about wires showing. FUNCTION > form (looks)

There is also a metal cover that the wiring harness clips into in front of the ECU that you're missing.

Missing a couple of the parts that make it fit all nice and snug in there, actually:

As stated above, definitely do not run the wires behind the ecu or you will have sad days ahead of you.

I cant stop laughing because long ago I did the same thing lol. I'm like "ok, I'm an idiot". But on a serious side the way I do every build is simple and has always work beautifully. I completely gut the car. Next put in your engine, then harness, ECU and what gauges you want to run and head to your tuner. Mind you the rest of the car at this point has not a single wire in it besides the above installed mentioned. When all that is done I wire in all my lights, blinkers, wiper motor and so on. This is super simple to do. Now you have your engine completely separate from the chassis. This makes life so much easier and manageable when it comes to your project wiring. Now if you have a engine problem it can be diagnosed in minutes in most cases, and vice versa with your chassis lighting. No longer do you have a rats nest to go through to figure issues out. No longer is everything tide together making it a nightmare to find one faulty wire or connection. I give you my word once you wire one car this way you will never tolerate another factory wiring harness again!
