Default Shuddering 95 Ballade/ civic

Hello all again, I have a 1995 Honda Ballade SA model (luxline shape) or Civic to you all, Its a carburetor 150 DOHC 16V engine. This has cropped up as of late, when accelerating whether on level , or uphill , but more pronounced on uphill, the car at about 40km/h has a shudder and appears to have lack of power. Once 55 and up KM/H and higher than 3 rd gear has been reached all appears normal and the shudder is gone. No hot temp no shudder in steering it is difficult to pinpoint what the issue is. The engine idles normally with no miss. She has 175k on the clock and was well looked after. The CV joint boots were recently replaced and think this started to happen after this, have checked when I did this is not the case the boots were replaced after this started. Some say carburetor some say clutch. Please any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hello I see no jerking or unusual movement of tacho, Once 50km/h is reached all reverts back to normal. But at 40km this shudder persists, more pronounced under power going uphill.

Have you inspected the distributor internals? How old are the plugs and plug wires? Can you swap in a known good coil? The ignition system of these Hondas is their Achilles' heel.

I think the coil is still original, not sure on the plug leads and cap, plugs are about 4 months in with minimal running. I am going to take her into Rio motors tomorrow maybe they can shed light on this, It also feels like an ignition problem, but why at 40Km/h all the time???

A faulty coil can cause misfires at high rpm or under load.

The first thing your mechanic will do is a full ignition system tune up. You can pay your mechanic to do this simple work, or you can do it yourself and save some money. Use Honda parts only.
