Throttle body options for d16y8 manifold
I’m sure this has been covered, but I couldn’t find it on a search. Don’t wanna spend ALL day on google if someone can answer this real quick.
i bought a d16a6 with a z6 head and a y8 intake manifold. I’m putting it in a 1991 civic std. I’ve got EVERYTHING I need except the throttle body.
I was planning on finding a manual y8 throttle body from the junkyard but there are NONE left in Tucson, every car here is picked clean or is an automatic.
I have a d15b7 throttle body laying around: can I put this on my y8 manifold? If so which gasket do I use?
are there any other throttle bodies I could use?
thanks

Stud pattern on D series throttle bodies is the same, you can use a d15b7 TB and it will function. Any gasket that's open to the needed passages should work but may require trimming to fit well. You're more likely to have trouble with the throttle cable depending on which one you intend to use.
You could also use an auto TB and plate the bottom off. It's not ideal, but I've done it once in the past when I didn't have another option on hand.
