Hesitation when accelerating
1990 Honda Civic DH H/B
A couple of thing have been going in that I am not sure of due to not on going symptoms. I have only changed the battery on this car.
1. When I leave the car parked in the sun for 4 to 5 hours, the car wont start. If I leave it in the shade for the same time period or longer overnight it starts right up.
2. After a cold start in the morning the car appears to drive fine, starts right up, but when I come to my first delayed stop the car hesitates like it wants to stall. Its an automatic.
3. Taillights, headlights, blinkers, and brakes appear to be wired together somehow. I read about a bad ground but am not sure where to look for said ground. When my left blinker is on my shift lock engages and disengages in unison with the signal. All of the lights on the rear driver side flash at the same time when left signal is on. When brake is applied, left signal comes on. With headlights on, left signal is not operable.
Any tips would be great.

1. When I leave the car parked in the sun for 4 to 5 hours, the car wont start. If I leave it in the shade for the same time period or longer overnight it starts right up. Could be the main relay. It's under the driver's side of the dash. They are notorious for going bad (typically cracked solder joints) and they usually cause the symptoms you're having.
2. After a cold start in the morning the car appears to drive fine, starts right up, but when I come to my first delayed stop the car hesitates like it wants to stall. Its an automatic. Stock DX? So it still has DPFI? Does it smell like it runs rich and do you have a lot of soot on the back of the car? The DPFI injector seals are very old if they are original and they tend to shrink. Because of the DPFI injector design, if the seals leak, they let unmetered fuel get past the injector and into the intake. If it's running super rich, it can make the car stumble at idle. You could also check that your IACV is working properly by unplugging it while the engine is running and seeing if there is a change in the idle - note that this will cause a check engine light that you'll have to clear. Does the hesitation seem worse when the headlights and/or AC are on?
