Default B16a Rebuild Questions

I'm probably going to be buying a B16A from my friend, with the intention of rebuilding it. I'll be pulling the entire bottom end apart, and looking to see what needs to be changed, etc. I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible, and I do intend to replace this motor with another one in less than a year, so if that has any affect on what I do...
I'm sure I'll put it new bearings and rings, gaskets too. The engine is a JDM import, with who knows how many miles, usually advertised at less than 30k...
My questions are these:
1 - Do you think I'll need to send the block to the machine shop? I'll measure out-of-round, but do you think a basic re-hone would do the trick? I want to get this thing ready asap.
2 - Will I need to rebuild the head? I'll check valve lash, and pull the cams, etc. but will I need to pull the whole valve train? What else should I check?
3 - What other parts do you think will need replacement? I'll change the timing belt, but what else should I change for sure? Like I said, I will be pulling the entire block apart, so anything apparent I'll catch, but in your experience, what should I look closer at?

Timing belt
Distributor
Water pump

Only need to change the rings and bearings if something is wrong. i.e. burns oil.

If I put in a new ignitor, rotor, and cap, (I use an msd external coil) will that be good enough for the distributor?

I kinda wanted to freshen up the bottom end, not only because I don't know how many miles the motor has, but also because I have to pull some of it apart: I don't know how well my friend took care of it (has been sitting), so I wanted to check for rust etc. I also know that he f**ked up the head gasket, so I have to change that anyway...

replace the head gasket then, and do what Spade says. There's no real need to mess with bottom end unless something's wrong, especially if you're only going to have it for only a year. Before you take it out do a compression test. Leave the top end alone, but since you're taking off the head, might as well hot tank the head, valve job, and maybe upgrade to ITR cams and springs. There's a lot you CAN do, but only a little you SHOULD do
