Default 1999 civic ex 2 door 1.6 sohc misfire. D16y8

Hi guys I use to be a pretty consistent member back when I had my 91 crx si but it's ten years later and I decided to pick up a 1999 ex. I'm having a few codes here that have had me allllll over the place.
im having the code for random misfire and cylinder 2 misfire consistently, but occasionally threw my diagnosing I have gotten all 4 cylinders throwing the code with everything hooked up.
I've changed the rotor and cap, plugs , wires, have confirmed the injectors are atleast running by pulling the plugs to them and it seems they all are running about the same because same loss in power when I pulled it. I have a map sensor and a throttle position sensor on the way and have cleaned out the throttle body. Checked but haven't replaced my gas cap. And am currently trying to run some techron fuel treatment through the system. Sprayed all the vacuum lines and units I could see with carb cleaner to check those, and visually inspected all the lines I can see. I am a self service mechanic but no pro but I did the best I could. Currently throttle body is off and I should have the sensors In a couple days but I'm wondering if there is anything I am missing here. The car did seem like it had set up a little bit but not too long. I haven't treated the oil but I've done a oil change.... Lmk what you think or if anyone can help id really appreciate it. There is NO EGR on This thing btw I looked for it before I pulled the throttle body. ALSO I believe the knok sensor ( green circular plug right above the rack and pinion) was unplugged and idk if it was because someone was trying to diagnose the misfire or what but I can't start it to try it out again until my map sensor gets here because the old map sensors screw heads were busted off.

The problem may be the coil or ICM inside the distributor. You can Ohm test the coil.

Also consider replacing the fuel filter, if it has not been replaced recently.

Don't forget to rule out burnt valves or poor compression.

Ok sorry for delay but I had ordered some parts. I went ahead and threw a new distributor, map, and throttle position sensor.
now it won't start 😢. I let the fuel pump prime and gave it a few pumps then tried to crank it multiple times about 10 seconds each time. Immidately thought I had installed the distributor 180. But seems I didn't , I'm going to check timing tomorrow I am still confused as to why would it would be so out of timing it won't start now? But going to check timing on crank and cam and see what happens tomorrow. It's dark and I showered for the day but I'll update . Thanks

The rotor seems to sit slightly between the 1 and 2 on distributor. I saw a picture of a Haynes manual distrutor install and the back of distributor and end of cam is straight up and down In that picture, mine is at an angle... Hoping it's my problem. Fingers crossed

So I got the engine at TDC and the distributor rotor fit perfectly at #1 pin. My installed everything and checked my hose clamps etc. Torqued the valve cover down and started her up. Now I haven't got the check engine to come on but I now have hesitation and a slightly lower idle, a bit too low around 400 rpm I think. I'm pretty sure I have firing order right. It's 1234 coming from the timing belt, and

On the distributor looking at it from the side.
I currently have a bottle of fuel cleaner in the tank could it be causing the issue idk 😢

Set the ignition timing with a timing gun.

As it was I couldn't even get it over 15mph without it bogging unhealthily, so I parked it and talked to a but he recommended tweaking my distributor since it was backed all the way back on it's slots anyways. I ended up putting it over halfway to other side and everything seems to be running fine. Solid idle and acceleration, stupid tailpipe stopped shaking 😂. Is it the same step just using a timing light for the adjustments? The whole ignition timing thing really confuses me honestly I'm thinking about bringing to mechanic.

You can set the ignition timing yourself with a timing gun.

Alrighty I was running pretty smooth there for a few days no lie.... I sprinted around quite a bit just to see if I could make it misfire and nope.
THEN my gas light came on and almost same time my check engine light came on. I'm back to misfiring . When I first bought the car it was around an 1/8th tank and when I fueled it up the misfire began. In the beginning I recognized it as a fuel treatment issue and have my second bottle in it now...
now the important part, there is a fuel smell I can smell I'm the cabin and seems to be coming directly from fuel pump but only after the car has been running for atleast a few minutes. I wanted to just swap the fuel pump but I see there is more too it then that, where should I start? I have a voltometer and I've already sprayed the pump and lines with carb cleaner to see if I could find a leak directly on it.

Hopefully you did not reset ECU when the CEL turn on but you did pull the CEL codes (post most recent CEL codes).

, I have the Solus edge and it has permanent and temp codes. For first time ever it's showing p1456 EVAP control system leakage. And my p1399 misfire any cyclinder. In permanent codes it just shows misfire cylinder 2

Is it safe to say maybe under certain pressures my seal on pump is leaking? I heard there is some pressure regulator on the tank that can spew fumes if it stops working properly or if pressure buildup is happening due to another reason or it failing?
