Lag/poor response Steering
Hey,
so I got tired of this kinda rolling on marshmallows feel. You turn left-right-left-right and so much lag. I decided to go all in to put that car on rails and maybe autocross some day.
I checked the basics before spending some $$ like inner/outer tie rods, all bushings, steering wheel (seems tight, I mean no loose).
All was good so I bought and installed brand new high performance tires (stiff tire wall), top notch suspension.
And then... still feels like on winter tires!... It is better yes but not by much.
I'm disappointed, I don't know what I can do after that...

I was in the same boat, but ended up with a setup that handles well but isn't punishing after lots of research and playing around with parts. The game changer was the coilovers.
Koni Yellows and Ground Control w/ 400lb front springs, 500lb rear; The higher rear rate really helps with turn in. It isn't "on rails" but it responds really well.
You will want to read this over a few times and get familiar with how our cars respond.
Intro to EF Suspension Tuning
Heres the rest of my setup
Hardrace upper / lower front and rear control arms
Hardrace trailing arm bushings
ESP.net Strut / Tie bars
Toyo Extensa HPII tires (195/50/15)
Stock sway bars
To tweak things I have thought about putting my ST sway bars back on and getting an extra set of wheels to run the RE-71Rs (I swapped them out because they were TOO sticky if that makes any sense...)
Hope this helps.

When you say all bushings - are you including the one inside the steering rack?
Did you adjust the steering pinion preload any?
I found I've got some play in the steering shaft knuckle joint, it's doesn't bother me but I could probably clamp it tighter or replace the u-joint. Worth looking at.
