Should I Modify My Stock Em1
I came by a clean em1 with nothing done to it except maintenance work, a pretty complicated kill switch, and a pretty nice kenwood aftermarket stereo system. I’ve been looking into everything I might want to do to it, but I was wondering whether or not I actually should. Keep in mind all modifications will be purely for performance, I’m not going to do anything crazy cosmetically. More than anything I want to get forged internals and turbo it, but I might also want some better suspension, better tires maybe wheels, intake and exhaust, and a piggyback ecu for quicker Vtec engagement. No bad wraps, sprayed on body paint, massive spoilers, or obnoxious body work. As long as I keep it to purely performance, is this sacrilege? Should I keep it purely to powertrain and not touch suspension or wheels and tires?
Only make modifications that can be reversed back to stock. EM1s are getting rare in unmolested condition.
considering how many I have seen pated out and wrecked over the years I wonder how many are actually left.

Leave it stock. A stock em1 is in high demand. Modified ones are a dime a dozen. You will probably spend money and depreciate the value at the same time, its a double edged sword.
Because I like my cars lowered, I would get a good quality set of fully adjustable coil-overs. If you do that do two things:
1. Don't dump it mad low. Keep the ride height reasonable.
2. Keep the stock suspension. That way when you try and resale it, you can put the stock shock/springs back on.
Also small little interior things are nice as well. (Spoon, Mugen, Dimes, shift ***** and a CTR shift boot). Keep it simple and clean.

My honest answer is to keep it stock. The more you modify a car the less reliable it will become. If you really want to build the platform daily drive the si and buy a shell to build into your race car.
