Hi there! I had just recently gotten a 1998 V6 Accord with a check engine p1491 for the egr. I have tried to both replace the egr valve and clean the egr passage to the intake manifold but neither seemed to have solved it. I tried jumping the egr valve straight to 12 volts and I can hear the valve clicking but the motor doesn't hesitate or stall at all when its on. Does that mean the the passage is still clogged between the manifold and valve? Any help would be appreciated and I have everything torn apart right now so I'd be willing to take any pictures if it's needed.
If your intake has more carbon than usual, cleaning the upper plenum to lower runner EGR port may not be enough.
You may have to remove the upper plenum(again), and remove the IAT sensor that faces the firewall, this allows you to clear out the EGR port/trough that is lateral to the EGR port.
So I had the manifold off already so I took the IAT sensor off and tried to feel if anything was clogging it but it seemed pretty clear. I ended up grabbing some wire and managed to pull it through to make sure nothing was in the way. So would that point me to it being clogged between the intake manifold and the egr still being clogged or is there another thing I'm not considering?
