Default Weapon R intake issues

So I picked up a Weapon R (secret weapon) intake for my 1990 Civic Si and it seems like it fits pretty bad for a name brand that's been around as long as they have. The filter touches the inner fender, hood and basically consumes my headlight plug. And that's after I jammed it on as fat as possible and pushed it to a pretty extreme angle to the pipe end. And all the has the connection to the throttle body pushed up towards the firewall. I wrote them and they basically told me that's just how it fits. I think I have the pipe for the integra (the similar kit that is included in the installation instructions) but could not get any technical information (measurements) from them. Anyone else have an issue like this or own either the civic or integra kit that could take measurements or make suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong? The battery is as far forward as possible without modifying stuff and the headlight relay is relocated as well.

Thanks for any suggestions or help.

Cut a bit off the piping for a better fit at the headllight, relocate the battery.

Otherwise put stock airbox back in w/ a KN filter. My stock box w/ an enlarged inlet sounds pretty gnarly, even when I had the D16A6 in it.

Your engine bay looks pretty clean already, I would say keep it OE style fresh.

thats a large diameter air pipe. its a tight squeeze there. thats pretty much expected. its not like OEM design intended there to be a metal pipe laying there.

AEM cold air intakes have similar issues. i was never comfortable with mine so close to the positive battery terminal either.

up to you if you really want to keep it or if looks dont matter, then just bash in the pipe near the terminal.

or move the battery or get a smaller one.
