Default Sluggish acceleration and choppy idle.

So, I just completed a mini-me swap on my 93 Civic. D15b7 block, D16y8 fresh reman head. Auto to manual conversion. d15 intake with a 70mm throttle body. My issue is that after setting the timing and finally getting the idle down I have a backfire issue on the exhaust side and my acceleration is sluggish until I hit 4k rpm. New plugs and wires and a new fuel filter. Any thoughts?

Check the mechanical timing (timing belt) and make sure it is set properly. Also, what engine management are you using ?

I unhooked the TPS, tweaked the timing and adjusted the idle/air screw and it seems to be better but it still idles at 1800rpm. My ecu is a p28 but for an automatic.
