Default Civic 98 hatch parts on a 97 hatch

Hello, I have a 97 Civic Hatchback (EJ9), can I use parts from a 98 Hatchback (also EJ9 probably).

The parts are :

front and read lights (just the housing, i would keep the bulbs)

front and rear bumper

front left and right side cover (I dont know the proper term, the parts that go over the tires).

left and right front doors

front left seat

Air conditioning unit (mine doesnt have it)

Is it posible to install ABS and Air bags in a 97 Civic that doesn't have that equipment ? It would probably be a hassle, and would also need to be homologated ? Im better off selling my Civic, and buying a newer model year, less work for me : )

The Civic got a facelift in 1998, does anyone know what were the chagnes made ? I think OBD went from OBD1 to OBD2, airbags were added, air conditioning was added, ABS was added. The wheel is 4 spoke, mine is 3 spoke.

Thank you for answers.

Assuming same body style (Hatchback, Coupe, etc.) everything will fit.

OBD II happened in 1996. So you are already OBD II. ABS had been an option for a while by 1997, Idk if it was standard on Civics in 1997, but if not, for sure it was still optional. Can someone verify this?

I don't think it would be terribly easy to retrofit ABS to your car if it didn't have it. Most people omit ABS when they modify their cars, so you would be doing the reverse!
IIRC they switched the body style slightly in 99, but the parts you list will still work. The 1999 face lift was a different front bumper and different climate control unit. I'm sure there were other changes but I can't say for sure what they were!

Your car should have had driver and passenger airbags from the factory. Are they no longer installed??

I am assuming you are overseas because in America we don't use the term Pre-Facelift or Facelift. I was stationed in Germany for a while,so I know the meanings.

As long as you have the right parts and corresponding wire harnesses, everything should be a straight swap. I know that there were some slight electrical changes to between 96-97, 98, and 99-00 body styles. I tried running the interior fuse box from a 98 EJ9 in my 98 EJ6 and only certain functions were working correctly. This is mainly because of the different options available for that car overseas.

Are you able to get a shop manual for your specific years and compare how the parts hook up?
