Default Honda Accord 2.4 DOHC Sulev Battery

Hi!

I need your professional opinion. So I recently changed the battery of my Honda Accord 2007 for the first time. The battery lasted 14 years. I forgot to check the default battery power description before giving it to Autozone. I'm not sure what battery the Accord came with by default. So I bought an ACDELCO advantage battery 51RS for $139 which has 460 CCA. Is it under-powered? I just told autozone rep that I have a honda accord 4 cylinder and they recommended it although they did say it was the cheapest one and that they didn't have any other in stock for a while so I went with it and bought that.

However, I noticed when I click window button or when I turn on AC/Heater, the headlight would dim a tiny bit and then it goes back to normal. I wonder whether the battery is under-powered or whether it's the alternator? or is it normal for a Honda Accord to dim a little when you press switches. The interior dashboard radio and speedometer do not dim, just the headlight and only noticeable at night. Not sure if it has always been that way.

Thanks
Slendie

There should be a big battery thread here. We have been going over this on another forum. While the group 51 battery is what is called for on the car, you can go up to the group 35 battery for the V6. It will fit but you have to change the battery tray (honda has the parts).

You can also use a group 24 which is kind of too big but it fits.

The debate is that most people like the 51 battery, it fits and is what is OEM.

My argument is that the 51 battery is small and used in the CRV and Civic. We drive a large sedan. My 2001 Lexus uses a group 35 battery as it has lots of electric parts (oem amps, sunroof, dual power seats, etc). Would I put a civic 51 battery in that car ? NO. So why do we have to use a 51 in the accord?

Also, a Honda battery from the dealer (51 or 35) is only $100, so the parts store kind of got you on that one.

It might be too late but you could go back and ask for the V6 one. They might not exchange it since you used it, but you could get lucky.
