Finally got around to installing most of the "extras" I had sitting around for my car. I added the Honda 3000 head unit with attachment Equalizer and the lower console. Not sure if the dash clock was an option across all models, or simply not provided on the DX, but my car never had a clock just a block off plate, so I added a working clock. Also got a dash mat, but I've since learned it must be for 90-91, as it doesn't quite fit my 89 (anyone have a blue 88-89 dash mat they'd wanna trade?). Found a decent set of original floor mats, bummer the driver side has a wear hole, but they'll work until I can find a nicer set. I think it's interesting to see how the plastic interior pieces of this car has aged something like that of a super nintendo, "multi colored", I don't think there's one piece that's an exact match of blue to another.
Some pics: Honda 3000 with Equalizer. This was top of the line in its day, but sounds worse than the cheapest walmart head unit of today. Was going to run this optional CD player instead of the EQ, but it doesnt read discs. It powers up, and attempts to work, but spits the discs out after a few seconds. I'm hoping an electronics repair shop might be able to fix it. Holy **** that's a lot of blue. I think I prefer the look of the dash without the mat.
Re: Added some OEM interior goodies to my 89 Hatch
Looks good man! I need to source some good condition, clean floor mats myself. How much work was involved putting in the dash clock? I've wondered about doing that in my sedan.
Re: Added some OEM interior goodies to my 89 Hatch
It was a piece of cake. Just pop out the whole center dash vent assembly (apply a little upward prying pressure along the bottom edge near the corners, and the clips will pop). Then remove two screws on the backside of the vent assembly that hold the block-off plate in place, and exchange for the clock. The wiring harness plug for the clock is already there, so its a simple plug and play swap. I have a couple spare clocks, and a few decent sets of floor mats depending on what color you'd like, if you're interested just lemme know and I can get you some pics.

I'd love to find a backup set of floor mats for my EG coupe, but they're hard to come across.
I've been giving some thought to experimenting with plastic dyes to get a more uniform color across the interior pieces. I thought about interior paint, but painted interiors always end up looking cheesy to me. Seems like people get good results with a product called RIT dye, it will actually penetrate the plastic and wont flake off like paint. I just hope they'll all come out the same color, and not just slightly darker versions and still discolored from each other.

Yeah, took me a while to find it, I bought the lower console "empty" and sourced the EQ separately.
I actually have two different style EQ's, I like the one I put in the car a little better, as it kinda has a bit more of a vintage retro look to it than this one:

I was going to tell you it looks like your dash cover is made for a 90-91 with the larger cluster hood, but when I re-read your original post I see you already learned that haha
