Stock rods on B20v..?
Hello,
i would like to build a B20 vtec for a "low coast" daily street car.
the setup is: stock B20Z 84.5 bore, stock crank, stock rods, nippon racing pistons P30
for apprx 12:1, B16B cams, supertech lma, springs, steel retainers.. eventually a block guard.
i looking for 220/230hp and 8500 Max rpm.
the question is, do you think the old stock rods are safe for 8500 rpm..??
thanks

Stock rods should be fine. I would get arp rod bolts though for piece of mind revving that high. But it has been done in the past and b20’s have lived to tell the tale lol.
i personally have a completely stock block b20b that sees 8k rpm fairly regularly along with full throttle shifting and its held up for the last 10 months now no problem.
