[98 Honda Accord EX V6] Stuck Between 2-3K RPM
New here, so sorry if there is a post about this or related to it already. Still finding my way around and haven't had much luck elsewhere.
So, currently my car once I get going won't really go above 3k RPM with my foot on the floor. It might jump up to like 5k for a second, buy then goes back down and won't accelerate any faster. Not sure what might be causing this. It also has difficulties getting going. I'll have to start going forward and right around 20MPH it bogs down and I have to slap it into neutral and back to get going. I guess this is it slipping?
It drives smooth other than this. There does appear to be a leak from the device the the spark plug wires connect to on the side of the engine? Not sure if that is relevant or not. I have also had the oil pressure sending unit replaced recently. Once again, not sure if that is of any use.
Just looking for some guidance on what might be causing this. Information, links, whatever would be greatly appreciated.

My first question would be for you to get the codes the car might be throwing, because there are a basket of items that can cause this.
1 - Igntion coil
2 - distributor
3 - EGR (sometimes)
4 - cam position and crank sensors failure
5 - ECU
6 - vtec solenoid
But hopefully some error can be gotten to give some clues.

After some looking around it appears that my distributor is leaking. Should I just need to replace the seal and gasket and see if that helps? Also, I don't have a check engine light, will it still throw codes?

what is your distributor leaking?oil? I think in this situation sounds like a replacement distributor is not a bad idea you can get a cheap one from ebay and if that don't fix your problem witch it prob will at least you know u have a new distributor. is your valve cover gasket leaking also?
Replace the gasket, it could be leading to something. Also, clean up all that oil dripping onto whatever is below it. check the sensors that might now have oil in them and clean them. I've seen that a few times as an issue, and it's inexpensive to do this.
