Default EK Build

I’m going to pick up an EK civic prettysoon and I want to do some things, but I’m working on a budget of about $4000 (for the mods). I do want to swap the engine and turbo it. What engine would you guys recommend to use for boost. I’m also gonna be Tranny swapping it as well. So what would be a good engine and tranny combo to go along with the turbo. This car will be my daily. So I’m not looking to get crazy numbers. I was thinking like 270whp??? Almost forgot, what turbo kit would you guys suggest. Is $4000 even enough???? Or should save up a bit more before I dive right in

Have you ever heard the old saying "Cheap, Reliable, Fast; pick two". Seems you've already picked your two, Cheap and Fast, so reliability has gone out the door.

Let us know how it is...when something is bad and you don't have the parts to replace it. Bumming a ride, Lyft/Uber, public transportation, etc are your only options then.

Your local auto parts store isn't going to have stainless steel fittings or hoses.

So no boost haha. I was always kinda on the fence about it too. I still wanna do a full swap tho. Do you guys recommend any setups. I’m kinda confused on what motor to choose or to even start the build with the money I have. I wanna go with a B16 but I can’t find a good deal on one. Maybe I’m not looking in the right places. But as of right now the only motors I can really afford is an Ls or a B20. But I’m not really liking them that much. I was thinking of doing a Ls/VTEC setup tho. I wanna do a build to have fun and make it my daily.

Unless you have at least another car don't turn your daily driver into a build unless your doing simple tasteful mods, Engine swapping and turbo is going to be a long road with lots of bumps along the way the last thing you want is your "Daily" driver sitting in the garage or driveway cause it wont start or the engine blew ect..

FYI a stock Vtec D series from a EX EK and a simple Turbo kit will be plenty of fun! no need for a B series save the D!!
