Default Product Inquiry: AI4-XTSD for 300-400whp

For 300-400whp I'm really thinking about going this route. Non sprung so I won't have to worry about a spring coming loose, less rotational weight, and a full face disc to help not shock the transmission so badly during hard shifting. (I usually don't lift between shifts). Car will never be at the drag strip and will only be used for daily driving and street roll racing.

What you need to be concerned with is your anticipated torque rating, NOT just your HP rating, when selecting your clutch..

Yea I know.

Spoke with ACT about this and they said it would be a great choice but strongly suggests I go with the sprung disc for daily driving. Said on a GT30R turbo B series this clutch will probably be good for around 370whp before it starts to slip.

I've always had good luck with ACT. Had Exedy as well as Competition Clutch in the past. They're okay, if you have simple mods and is great for normal driving. I currently have ACT SS/HD in mine. No slippage, no issues, no complaints.

The other option was an Exedy Stage 2 3 puck.

For daily driving, especially if you are stuck in heavy slow-down traffic, 3 puck or 6 puck isn't fun. lol

I don't have tons of experience with every brand as I've only run clutchmasters and competition. Currently using a Clutchmaster FX400 6 puck sprung. It should have anything I ever plan on giving it even if I upgrade to the next size turbo. I'm still running a cable transmission and honestly, I don't think it's that hard of a clutch to drive. The wife hated it at first but after a couple drives she got used to it.

I find cable transmissions much easier to drive, but of course my Integra has a hydro.

Do you have a lot of chatter with the FX400? I do like the looks of the FX300 and FX350.

I drive to and from work, that is about it. Plus I will be getting another daily probably next year. Maybe a TLX or TSX V6.

But yea, my commute is very nice. Pull out of my driveway and it's free twisty backroads all the way until a 5 miles stretch of 4 lane open highway.

i will admit if you don’t slip
the clutch just right you will have some chatter. After driving it for a bit you just learn the right amount of slip

I find that to be with any clutch that is capable of more torque than stock, but the Clutchmasters and Carbonetics were the easiest to break-in. It's all about the break-in procedure

My ACT lasted 20 years which means I can’t say anything bad about the service it gave me. But I switched to Comp Clutch and have also been more than happy

IMHO...ACT is by far the best aftermarket clutch company for Hondas. I have never had to replace them in any of my personal cars. Only reason why I had other brands was because they were in different cars/setups, at different times of ownership.

WAY TOO AGGRESSIVE for what you're looking for. Stick with the AI4-XTSS or AI4-HDSS for this. You're not going to make more than about 250-280ft/lbs of torque with a setup like this. You can also use the Exedy Stage 2 08950B (specifically) for your application. You will HATE LIFE WITH YOUR CURRENT CHOICE
