I’ve been researching for about 2 hrs now & cannot find a clear answer as to what Skunk2 cams I have.
They were sold to me as Skunk2 pro 2 cams & I’ve yet to install them. I want to verify before I do. They have “S2” stamped into the middle of both cams as well as an “S2-PG26-AE” laser-etched into a cam journal near the cam gear.
For sure they are Skunk2 but are they really pro 2’s? I look at the end of the cam where a “p2+” or “M” stamping a would be, but instead only saw two “E” stampings on both Intake & Exhaust cam. Someone please help! Called & emailed Skunk2 & have yet to get word back.
I dont know what they are, but are those gouges in lobes in that last pic?
Thanks for the reply Swift! I can see how you thought they were gauges on them lol but no, it’s just a very thick oil I have on them to keep them moisturized.
Maybe I’m little too old school but like in every work phase at engine building, best way to identify them is exact measuring. At the same you’ll see what they really are, not some advertised durations. For that reason I used to check every pair, even when they were brand new from the box and I knew what they should to be. And that can be done with quite basic equipment: dial gauge, degree wheel and notebook.

Man this would be totally cool to do but I don’t have any of the tools required to measure them (even if I had them I wouldn’t know how to do it tbh) so I’m limited to the markings at this point. I can always wait for my engine builder to put together the engine & he’ll measure & tell me but I much rather take everything to him already knowing what it is & what he can expect. I know Pro 2’s are very aggressive cams but I need that aggression for the 14:1 compression I’m running.
