Default Honda sensing cruise

Hello, I bought a new 2017 Accord hybrid with the Honda sensing. For the most part I liked the features with the exception of the adaptive cruise. I like the concept, but Honda took an unreasonably conservative approach to its implementation. At least to me it's useless in the right lane because I’ll just pass any car I come up to. In the left lane it’s downright dangerous. It keeps me so far back that other drivers (rightfully so) thought I was that jerk that just sits in lane and doesn’t move over. After getting cut off a couple of times and having my brakes lock up I simply turned it off. I’m now looking at a clarity plug in, with the Honda sensing. Anybody out there know if Honda has gotten more reasonable with the distance? My son is going to be 16 soon and I already am apprehensive about letting him drive the accord since I don’t want him relying on the car to think for him. I appreciate any help here, thank you.

I have no info on the clarity or Honda sensing, so my comment isn't very relevant but I feel like for a kid learning how to drive you should turn off all of those types of features. I feel like it's a bad way to learn how to drive. It's be like learning how to type on a keyboard with auto fill for the words. As far as the Honda sensing goes, you'd probably be able to find more info by googling it rather than posting here. This site focuses mostly around enthusiast builds.
