Hello all I’m new to this, and wanted some information on what would be the best engine to drop into my 97 civic hx. The engine it has now is the d16y5 VTEC-E. What would I need for a complete swap and ball park price on how much it would cost

There isn't a "best" engine per say as it is very subjective. You have to specify your goals for the swap. Your current engine is a great fuel economy (one of the best) motors. If you want power, there is several routes, there is not a one size fits all. Budget needs to be a factor too.

So, think about your goals, your budget and try a new thread with the specific information so it's not just an opinion trolling thread.
