93 Accord. Can I disable the abs motor? Pump leak.
The ABS is trash and I would prefer to disable it due to a slow leak coming from the side of the abs pump manifold/housing (See pic) . So it refills the reservoir from my main master cylinder reservoir. Can I stop it from pulling in fresh brake fluid by pulling the motor circuit breaker?

Reason: Added picture showing where leak is.

I found a place named AUTOTEK in Santa Ana, CA that rebuilds ABS modulators/pumps for about $350. They rebuilt my 1993 Honda Accord ABS modulator and pump 6 months ago and not one problem.

Thankyou for looking that up for me. Unfortunately that would be way out of my price range, plus I'd have to pay someone to install it because I don't have the tools. I'd be happy if I could just disable the thing and shut off it's feed from the master cylinder reservoir.
Re: 93 Accord. Can I disable the abs motor? Pump leak.
My car is a 94 and may have a different ABS, but I have found that I can pull the fuse in the ABS fuse block with no ill effects. It simply turns off the ABS. It may not be the same for a 93, but it could be worth a try. I turn mine off at certain times to facilitate heavy braking while turning. Probably not a good idea for everyone, but then the LX Accords didn't have ABS to begin with.
Re: 93 Accord. Can I disable the abs motor? Pump leak.
This is what i did. I heard the two brake fluids are isolated. So if it continues to leech from the master cylinder reservoir, I might clamp the hose leading into the abs reservoir.
Re: 93 Accord. Can I disable the abs motor? Pump leak.
My ABS reservoir fills from the top through a removable plug. The ABS and the brake reservoir are not connected. The seal below the accumulator was leaking and made a mess of the inner fender. I unplugged the ABS until I could get it fixed. I had no problems with the braking system. Also, I replaced the O-ring without removing the ABS. But I am not familiar with ABS systems prior to the Gen 5 Accord, so yours may be different.

So I pulled the abs motor relay and abs cb's. ABS reservoir is no longer sucking from the master cylinder reservoir. I haven't needed to refil it. Also my brakes actually feel a little firmer.
