Default Car is whining

So I figured id come here to ask you guys a question as you all know WAY more about Honda's than i ever will . I own a 1993 Honda Accord EX it has been a fantastic little car since i've bought it but a little while back it started making a whining noise. The whine sounds like the power steering pump when it runs low on fluid etc but the thing is it only happens very specific times, early in the morning when i pull out from in front of my house (I park on the street) or when my car has sat for 12+ hours in general. In first gear, after i have released the clutch and gotten going, I will get the whine then it doesn't make it again until it has sat, sometimes not until the next morning. All my fluids have been replaced in the last month or so. Any ideas? Thanks a ton everyone.

If this only happened after the fluid change I suspect bubbles in the power steering somewhere. You could try to take off the cap, run the car and turn the steering end to end to try and "burp" it.

Otherwise I would then guess a power steering pump slowly starting to go.

I don't think much else makes a whining noise.

It was happening before the fluid change but I will still try that you never know. The strange thing to me is the fact that is only does it very specific times. Thank you for the reply, good to know nothing else should really be meaning that specific whine / groaning noise power steering pumps make.

At least it's not the hardest thing to replace nor the most expensive....and you can usually drive them until they become really bad. Usually under $100 to fix if you do it yourself. Just a little messy.

The ABS system also makes a short whining sound after startup, which is the ABS system priming itself..

Mine has been doing that for many years. It only lasts a few seconds, and usual happens just as I go into gear to get going. But if you never noticed it before now, perhaps your whine noise is something else.

Thank you! That's a suspicion I've had, Its always sounded like its something priming or filling up then I dont hear it again then it sits for a day and does it again as soon as I put it in gear and get going. I should say I've only had the car for about 8 months now and its been happening for quite some time so odds are its always been happening (time flies and you think oh its only been a few months when i reality its been longer than that lol).

Yeah it's an odd sound for sure. You might notice that it occasionally happens at other times too. But there is still nothing wrong..
